2022 - 2023

In July of 2022 I was contracted to design the layout, covers, and updated visual elements for a Pennsylvania based western apparel company, Outback Trading Company.

The project included designing, from cover to cover, the entirety of their “Traditions” and “Fall 23” wholesale merchandise catalogs.

The contracted project took just over a month to design and revise two catalogs; “Traditions 23” and “Fall 23”, for a total of 80 different pages designed

By the end of their 2023 season, roughly 15,000 catalogs were printed between the three publications.

The Challenge

  1. Update the catalog to feel and look different from previous publishings

  1. Obtain a visual identity that could be replicated for future catalogs and print marketing

  1. Clarify and simplify sizing and coloway ordering systems per product

The Solution

The design for the 2023 catalogs was rooted in consolidating and grouping information into better legible “clusters”.

Reorganizing product information hierarchy was also important for consolidating page space, resulting in larger product imagery and lifestyle photos.

I experimented with different image masks and frames, and found a cohesiveness with the western aesthetic and torn paper. It gave the publication a bit of a lived-in, rugged, and interesting feeling. This design element was then approved and continued amongst the following publications; “Fall23” and “Hats23”.
